We know that time is precious for our members and that we are more likely to retain information when it’s presented in small chunks.
Each session is designed to introduce fresh perspectives and drive lasting behaviour change.
Session 7 overview – Pathfinder… A new way of working
This session will provide a step-by-step explanation of the Pathfinder Pilot with top tips for practitioners on how to approach Pathfinder cases with their clients.
We will look at the evolution of Pathfinder from the Harm Report to the Courts that currently work under the Pathfinder Pilot.
You will learn about the process from pre-application through to conclusion and how things differ to the Child Arrangements Programme. Pre-application considerations will include NCDR and tips for when you are completing the application forms. Consideration will be given to an explanation of the ‘Problem Solving Approach’. Enforcement Applications under Pathfinder will be explained as well as consideration of the potential pros and cons of Pathfinder.
Meet the trainers:
Angela Killa
Angela is a Director at JCP Solicitor’s based at our Carmarthen Office, specialising in all aspects of Family Law including complex children matters, divorce and financial remedies as well as preventative work such as cohabitation agreements and pre-nuptial agreements. Angela also works on modern family matters such as surrogacy. Angela has been a member of Resolution’s Children Committee since 2022 and in September will become co-chair of that committee. Angela also sits on the adult advisory board for the Children’s Commissioner for Wales amongst many other endeavours.
Gareth Evans
Gareth was called to the Bar in 2008 and has built an enviable reputation in all aspects of children law and family finance matters. Ranked as ‘Band1’ Counsel in Family: Children by Chambers and Partners UK Bar 2024 and listed as s ‘Leading Junior’ in Child Law (Public and Private) and Divorce and Financial Remedy Legal 500 2024. Gareth has more recently provided training to practitioners and the judiciary on the topic of the Pathfinder Pilot, he has become the go to Counsel in this area of family law. Gareth, since 2020, sits as a Recorder on the Wales Circuit and is known for his clear and expert approach from either side of the bench.
