This is a three day online attended mediation refresher course. It has been designed for those mediators who have been out of practice for some time and wish to renew and update their skills.
21-23 October 2020
This refresher course is specially adapted and will pay special consideration to those mediators who have found it challenging building a mediation practice on a remote basis since March of this year.
The design of the course has taken into account the fact that mediation is likely to continue online for the considerable future and that clients may well more generally expect a more ‘blended’ means of service delivery.
- This training will include online role-playing which gives a flavour of how remote mediation works in practice.
- The training will consider the setting up and assessment process and how to reduce the stress for both clients and mediators working remotely.
- It will also focus on refreshing the principles of mediation, mediation skills, considering the needs of children as well as parents and provide updates relevant to the Family Mediation Council requirements for all mediators.
In order to provide the best learning opportunities participants will be sent material to read in advance. This will also include video clips, the content of which will form the basis of group discussions.
In order that all participants are familiar with and updated with regard to mediation documentation there will be a supported exercise in producing documents based on a case scenario.
Participants will need to allow themselves sufficient time to prepare for the course, including reading the pre-course material and prepare ahead of the course and to complete the documentation after the course.
This course is delivered by Angela Lake-Carroll and Suzy Power, who deliver together Resolution’s Mediation Foundation Training.
