Family Law Solicitor

The role

We are seeking both a Divorce/Finance Solicitor and a Child Law Solicitor and will also consider applications from those who like to do a bit of both.

We are one of the largest and fastest growing family law practices in the South-West

Don’t join us if you want to work as part of a corporate machine where it might seem that all that matters is your ever-increasing billing target and the number of hours you are sat at your desk.

Do join us if you truly believe that the Resolution way is the better way and you would like to improve your quality-of-life/work-life balance by working not far from the seaside and Dartmoor in Exeter, Devon (the capital of the South West).

Our founder, Ian Walker is the Chair of Resolution’s Devon Region and a member of the DR Committee. Ian was Highly Commended in the category of Practice Manager in the Law Society Excellence Awards 2019.

We are firmly committed to achieving the best results for our clients in the right way. We also committed to providing a supportive working environment and working as a genuine team.

• Flexible and home working are encouraged using our cloud-based IT infrastructure.
• Training and especially skills training are encouraged. You should be working towards achieving and maintaining relevant panel memberships.
• We welcome candidates who wish to train to become collaborative family lawyers and/or family mediators.
• We are happy to structure the role as either salary; fee share or a combination of both.
• A grown-up and supportive working environment – no silly rules.

For the right candidate there are also genuine equity prospects.

We are in the process of relocating our main centre to Exeter, and this is where you will be based.

If you don’t already work in Devon, you will soon regret that you didn’t move here earlier!

Candidate specification

We are open-minded. We will consider applications from NQ to very senior solicitors.

What is most important is that you are either an outstanding family lawyer or you have a desire to become an outstanding family lawyer. Also, that you share our values and that you have a good sense of humour.

If you are already a member of the children panel or a Resolution Accredited Specialist or an Accredited Mediator or a Collaborative Family Lawyer, that would be fantastic, but if not, we will support you in gaining accreditations because that benefits us both, and everyone should be supported in improving their skills. (If you are a mediator who is not accredited, we can assist you with the experience to achieve that).

You will also need to be a car driver and have reasonably good IT skills.
