Family Lawyer (Associate)

Back to jobs

The role

We are looking for a bright and forward-thinking family lawyer to join us at associate level. This is an opportunity to join us at an exciting time as we continue to grow the firm and enhance our reputation as one of the leading specialist family law firms on the South Coast. The practice was founded in 2018 by Resolution National Committee member Edward Cooke, and is now a team of nine.

The role comes with excellent prospects for career progression. The candidate will ideally have 2-6 years PQE; however, we would also welcome applications from other candidates who may be interested in joining our friendly and fast-growing team at our two offices near Chichester and in Brighton (including those looking to relocate from London or elsewhere).

We offer a London-quality service on the South Coast and so the candidate will have exposure to high quality work. We have considerable experience in handling financial remedy cases involving substantial assets (and regularly deal with top London boutique firms on our cases) and complex private law children cases (including with an international element). We are also a highly respected firm in non-court dispute resolution, with three mediators and three collaborative lawyers among our ranks. We also specialise in modern family work, including surrgoacy and fertility work and same-sex families.

The candidate will be based primarily at our head office in idyllic surroundings near Chichester, in the heart of the South Downs, but there is flexibility to work from our Brighton office or partly from home if the successful candidate prefers.

We are family friendly employers, support flexible working and provide excellent support in terms of wellbeing, including monthly therapeutic support and a weekly (non-compulsory!) team exercise class.

Candidate specification

We are looking for a principled and people-focused family lawyer who is fully committed to the Resolution ethos and currently undertakes a mixed caseload of financial and children work. The candidate should be a Resolution member. Collaborative training is a plus; however, if the successful candidate has not yet undertaken collaborative training, this may be offered, given the practice’s strong focus on dispute resolution and full commitment to supporting the professional development of all its lawyers.

The successful applicant should be a committed team player, have a strong interest in marketing and networking and be enthusiastic and excited about participating in the continuing development of the practice.
