Collaborative Practitioner | Solicitor or legal executive
With over 25 years’ experience as a specialist family lawyer, Richard has extensive expertise in resolving disputes arising from relationship breakdown involving married, unmarried and same-sex couples.
He takes a particular interest in helping people plan and protect their finances before or after getting married, registering a civil partnership or setting up home with their partner. Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements now make up a significant part of Richard’s practice. They give him the opportunity to help his clients create legal and financial solutions which they and their spouse or partner are comfortable and happy with. Richard enjoys working with them to tackle the complex legal and personal challenges which arise.
Richard also frequently advises serving and former members of the Armed Forces and their families, particularly in relation to service pensions and the legal complexities involved with them.
Richard is a Collaborative Lawyer. He adopts a constructive approach to resolving disputes wherever possible, and gives realistic and practical advice, because he knows from experience that this is the best way to achieve results for his clients. He strives to create early opportunities to settle disputes on an advantageous basis irrespective of whether a particular case is taking the collaborative route, involves full-blown contested court proceedings, or anything in between.
Richard’s clients have often described him as a calm and reassuring influence, and he very much enjoys developing a rapport with them and helping them to achieve their goals.
