The role
1 Hare Court is a nationally renowned barristers' chambers located in Temple, London, with 46 barristers, comprising 14 silks and 32 juniors.
Chambers specialises in providing expert advice and representation in Family Law. Chambers has a strong reputation for excellence, boasting the highest concentration of specialist matrimonial finance King’s Counsel in the country.
Chambers is looking to appoint a new Head of Finance and Operations to collaborate closely with the Senior Clerk to provide full business and administrative support to all members and staff. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Finance
Chambers’ Accounts using Quick Books
Monthly invoicing for rent and fees
Managing direct debit collection
Cashflow
Preparing budget for approval
Monthly bank reconciliation
Marketing
Organising annual seminar and evening party for over 600 solicitors
Arranging internal receptions & parties in conjunction with the PR Committee
Administration
Monitoring of holiday and sickness records
Implementing and reviewing best price policy for supplies
Ensuring facilities are safe and compliant
Library
Ordering yearly publications FCP, @aGlance, @eglance, Capitalise, FRP etc
Pupillage
Assisting with mini pupil and pupillage applications and all correspondence thereon
Facilities
Health and safety officer, ensuring compliance
Overall maintenance of the building, external and internal
Maintenance of Chambers’ telephone and entry fob system
Consulting with the landlord regarding fire regulations and negotiating with utility suppliers
I.T
Consulting with contracted I.T. Support
Compliance
GDPR, Cyber Security and Bar Council regulations and updates
General Admin Duties
Maintaining self-accreditation with the regulator, the BSB (Bar Standards Board)
Bar Mutual Indemnity Insurance and Practising Certificates
Managing Data Protection registration
Creating agendas and attending all committee meetings

Candidate specification
We are looking for an energetic and commercial candidate to fulfil the above role by reference to previous professional experience and where relevant, professional qualifications.
This is a long-term role. The previous Head of Finance and Operations was with the firm for circa 15 years.
This is a varied and vibrant role. The successful candidate will mainly be working alongside the Senior clerk but will also work closely with the clerking team and with barristers on various aspects of the role as set out above.
Strong interpersonal skills, a great work ethic, and the ability to work as part of a team are therefore important.
