Resonate contributor guidelines
Thank you for your interest in contributing to our new blog Resonate. The blog is written by members and reflects the values of Resolution in promoting a constructive non-adversarial approach to family justice that supports better outcomes for families.
Who can write for Resonate
This is a blog for members of Resolution. We may choose to occasionally include guest posts, but that is at the discretion of Resolution.
How to write for Resonate
Please send your ideas to Esther Pilger, head of editorial: [email protected]
Frequency
We will be posting on average twice a week and will be reactive to events, publishing more often if the need arises. If there is likely to be delay in publishing your submission, we will discuss this with you so that you have the option to publish elsewhere if we can’t meet your needs.
What we’re looking for
- Insightful commentary on family law, practice and procedure
- Posts that support constructive professional dialogue
- Posts aligned with the Resolution Code of Practice
- A range of voices and perspectives across our broad church membership
Tone and content
We are happy to include a variety of voices and approaches depending on the nature of the post. It can be more informal than an article for The Review but doesn’t need to be so. All posts should:
- Speak to Resolution’s membership of family justice professionals
- Be professional, clear and accessible
- Use inclusive and respectful language
- Be reflective, not adversarial
- Properly cite all sources including legal citations and quotes
- Not contain any breach of client confidentiality
- Not contain inappropriate criticism of fellow professionals
- Avoid self-promotion or organisational marketing and promotional content
- Be original to the contributor and to Resonate, not breach any copyright or have been published elsewhere
Word count, images and format
- Length: 600–800 words
- Use headings and short paragraphs
- Graphics and images welcome
- Supply contributor image and email address
Resolution’s agreement to publish
We aim to achieve a balance of posts that speak to the whole membership and in achieving that balance we will make editorial decisions on which posts we publish and when.
We retain the right to decline to publish a post, and we will communicate with you on our decision-making process. In making these decisions we will consider:
- Strategic fit
- Audience and value
- Balance and diversity of content
- Quality and clarity
- Ethics, confidentiality and risk
- EDI and inclusive practice
