“Emma is incredibly client-focused with an astonishing eye for detail.” (Chambers [UK 2024])

Specialising in providing strategic advice and representation across the family law sphere, Emma’s work focuses on complex family law disputes arising from separation and divorce, pre and post marital agreements and issues involving children in separating families.  Her divorcing clients regularly face issues regarding family companies, trusts, properties, assets abroad, investment portfolios and large pensions.

“Emma Brunning – she has a quiet steel to her. Resolute in her support of her clients, able to give them clear and realistic advice and thinks ahead in order to get the best result.”  (Legal 500 [UK 2024])

Whilst Emma regularly represents people within court proceedings within Essex, London and further afield, she also works using alternative dispute resolution methods.  Emma aims to reach constructive solutions with minimum conflict: Having worked using the court system for over 25 years, she believes that Arbitration, Mediation and Collaborative law all have a role to avoid the acrimony and delays the court system can inadvertently cause.  She is a qualified Arbitrator in respect of financial matters arising from separation and divorce.  She is a trained collaborative lawyer, giving her clients the option to resolve their difficulties in a non-contentious manner.  She acts as an Early Neutral Evaluator to include within mediation, providing her bespoke opinion to assist in unlocking disputes during negotiations.
