This session will provide an overview of the Private Law Digital Service and its role in supporting families, professionals, and the court through private law proceedings. It will explore the purpose of the service, how it is used by applicants and respondents, and where it fits within the wider end‑to‑end private law journey.

It will also highlight learning from live service delivery, common challenges, and how user feedback is informing ongoing development and reform.

Meet the presenter:
Michelle Dunderdale
Michelle Dunderdale is a Service Manager within HM Courts & Tribunals Service, leading the design and development of Family Private Law services. Michelle has extensive experience across the justice system, with a strong background in operational delivery, service transformation, and stakeholder engagement in complex and fast paced environments.
In her current role, Michelle works closely with the judiciary, Cafcass, legal professionals, and government partners to improve private law pathways, ensuring services are child centred, proportionate, and responsive to user needs. Michelle has a proven track record of delivering reform at pace, strengthening governance, and embedding safeguarding and trauma informed practice.
Previously, Michelle held senior operational leadership roles within the Crown Court and Designated Family Court, overseeing high profile cases, managing large multidisciplinary teams, and driving national service improvements. Michelle is committed to improving outcomes for children and families and building confidence in the family justice system.
