Webinar: Using the New Domestic Abuse Resource in Mediation Practice – 12 June 2026

Back to events

Understanding coercive control • Meeting professional standards • Supporting safe, effective practice

The Family Mediation Standards Board’s Domestic Abuse Resource for Mediators represents a significant development in supporting safe, informed and ethically robust mediation practice.

Almost 6 months on from launch, we are delighted to welcome Helen Anthony, FMC’s Executive Director to discuss the FMSB’s aims in introducing the resource, and to answer any questions, alongside Angela Lake-Carroll, Resolution’s Consultant Head of Standards.

This practical webinar is designed to help mediators confidently understand, apply and embed the Resource into their everyday work, with a particular focus on coercive and controlling behaviours and the expectations placed on mediators under the FMC Standards Framework.

What the webinar will cover

We will be discussing:

  • Background and context leading to the establishment of the resource
  • Understanding the broader range of abusive behaviours and the importance of consistency of approach
  • How the Resource fits within the FMC Standards Framework; good practice expectations and complaints
  • Making best use of the Domestic Abuse Resource in everyday practice
  • Identifying your own training and development needs
  • Available supporting resources for members

Join us to build confidence, strengthen practice and ensure your approach aligns with current expectations.
