The role
Fenton Elliott Solicitors is a highly regarded niche practice with a focus solely on two areas of expertise: Family Law and Employment Law. The Family Law department, run by Chris Sutton, has grown exponentially since its inception in September 2023 and is already looking to add a third member to the team.
The firm is new, dynamic and growing fast. The basic principle is that the people at Fenton Elliott want it to be the kind of firm you would dream of working in; top quality work, fair pay, relaxed but professional attitudes; in short, decent, kind, fun people doing great work. And because it’s growing fast and we’re new, you would have the opportunity to mould the firm into what you want it to be. You will not be fitting in to rigid existing structures of practice but have the chance to make of the job what you want and the sky really is the limit.
If you’d like to know more about their culture, take a look at their website.
The role is ideally full time (although quality part time applicants would be considered) and will include a combination of running a caseload of privately funded Family Law work and assisting the Head of Department on higher level work.
The successful candidate will be ambitious, hardworking and interested in networking in order to bring in some of their own work as well as build their own personal reputation and brand as a family lawyer in the local area.
The firm has a head office on the outskirts of Newbury, Berkshire but also operates out of a satellite office in Abingdon, Oxfordshire as well – The successful candidate will be able to work from either/both offices and there will also be opportunities to work from home when required.
Being a relatively new department in a rapidly growing niche practice this opportunity will be particularly exciting for someone who wants to get in at the ground level of building something special.
Candidate specification
The ideal candidate will be between 1 and 5 years PQE (although more experienced applicant’s are of course welcome) predominantly in Private Family Law work.
The firm undertakes work in Divorce, Financial Remedy, Child Arrangements, Domestic Abuse, TOLATA and Nuptial Agreement fields.
A candidate with a client following or case load is welcomed although this is not essential as there is a reasonable caseload waiting for the successful applicant already.
A competitive salary is offered alongside other employed benefits such as pension contributions, life insurance and private healthcare with Aviva.
