Emma is a Consultant Solicitor Advocate and senior child law specialist. She was admitted as a solicitor in 1993 and as such has a wealth of experience, particularly in public law children matters. Emma has been an Accredited Member of the Law Society Children Panel since 1999 and an appointed Solicitor Advocate (Higher Courts, Civil) since 2007.

Emma was previously employed as a specialist children and family law solicitor in provincial practices, before moving to London in 2000, where, after several years as child law specialist and Supervisor and Head of Children and Family Law Departments, she subsequently became a Consultant Solicitor Advocate and senior child law specialist in 2013.

With over 30 years specialist experience, Emma has been listed in the Legal 500 in 1999 and 2011, has had a number of reported cases and has also provided comment and debate on local and national live radio and in weekly local newspaper columns, on children and family law issues. Emma also has experience of successfully handling cases that have attracted considerable media attention. In the main, Emma represents children through their Children Guardians, but also parents, adults, grandparents and other family members, in public law children matters, including in recent years specialising in Rule 16.6 cases. She advises clients on all aspects of children law, both public and private law, and represents them at all levels of the Family Court system. Emma has extensive experience in handling child care proceedings involving multiple parties, significant evidential, medical and legal issues, substantial medical evidence, complex injury and sexual abuse. She has enhanced skills in representing and communicating with clients with mental health and learning difficulties and clients who can be volatile and often vulnerable and is regularly appointed in cases on behalf of the Official Solicitor. Emma is a Resolution and Association of Lawyers for Children member and is committed to helping clients achieve the best outcome for them and matching the legal process best suited to their needs.
