Hetty has been a partner at Fladgate LLP since January 2021, having previously been a Partner in the Family team at Hunters Law LLP since 2003, and deals with a wide range of family law cases, including pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements, issues arising from the breakdown of a relationship, particularly financial issues arising from separation, and matters relating to children where focus and sensitivity is essential.

Hetty has particular expertise in dealing with child abduction cases and children cases with an international element.

Hetty is keen, where appropriate, to find solutions for clients which are negotiated and can enable the clients to move forward whilst maintaining a civilised relationship with their former partner. However her background is in litigation and in those cases where the need requires it she is well used to the court process and adversarial approach.

In addition to family law, Hetty also advises on matters relating to art and cultural property issues, whether or not contentious. These have included disputes concerning attribution, provenance, title, illegally exported and excavated goods and the restitution of cultural property.

In June 2015 Hetty was reappointed as a member of the Treasure Valuation Committee and has recently been selected as Deputy Chair. The committee advises the Secretary of State on the fair market value of declared Treasure finds from England, Wales and Northern Ireland which museums wish to acquire.
