Joseph has over 15 years of experience advising clients on all aspects of family law, including divorce, financial claims, nuptial agreements, private law children disputes and issues arising from cohabitation.

Joseph’s clients come from all walks of life, but he is particularly experienced in representing high-profile and high-net-worth individuals that wish to keep their private family matters out of the press.

Joseph has experience in the Family Court, High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court. He is particularly competent in dealing with substantial and complex financial cases, for married and not married individuals, with onshore and offshore assets, trusts, properties, businesses, corporate structures, and shareholdings.

Joseph is a skilful strategist and settles most cases, but he is also an adept litigator and knows when to use the courts to achieve a fair outcome, particularly where there are allegations of dishonesty and non-disclosure.

Joseph has considerable expertise dealing with high conflict private children disputes including: living arrangements, supervised contact, international child abduction, international and national relocation, education disputes, financial applications for not married parents, and applications on behalf of grandparents and extended family members.

Joseph drafts and advises on pre and post nuptial agreements for clients with assets throughout the world.

Joseph is also very experienced in dealing with urgent and without notice applications. For example, to stop a parent from unilaterally making important decisions about a child, or to obtain protective orders such as a non-molestation or property occupation order.

Before founding Melius Family Law in 2023 Joseph spent eight years under the tutelage of the “grande dame of family law” Frances Hughes, at one of London’s most prestigious family law firms for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. Prior to that he worked at top rated family law firms in London and Manchester, as a paralegal, trainee and solicitor.
