Karen Roberts has well over 20 years practice experience as a Family Solicitor and has a warm, and approachable style. She undertakes all areas of Family Law work, representing individuals facing difficult children’s issues, domestic abuse concerns and divorces/separations involving the resolution of financial issues. She represents parents and grandparents in care proceedings brought by the Local Authority and where family and children’s placements have broken down.

She has worked in proceedings in London, Birmingham, Oxford the Northeast and in more local court venues, in North, West and South Yorkshire. She has experience with cases progressing through the Magistrates Court, the County Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal.

Karen is a member of Resolution and acquired Specialist Accreditation status in 2004 for each of Domestic Abuse, Private Law Children and Financial Provision. She has maintained this accreditation status.

Karen studied law in Leeds and then her postgraduate diploma at the College of Law in York. She qualified in 1998 and spent 20 years working for MKB Solicitors, in Barnsley. For the latter 17 years she was a Partner there. She joined Ridley and Hall, as Partner in January 2022. Between these two roles she worked for Eaton Smith, Huddersfield primarily focussing on Child Care work, whilst continuing to support clients facing all sorts of challenging issues arising from their separation.

Karen adopts an intuitive, sympathetic and client focussed approach, whilst respectfully and passionately representing clients, successfully challenging issues and persuading professionals and the courts to achieve fair outcomes.

Karen loves to spend time outdoors, taking countryside walks and running with her dog who, as a lurcher, is much faster and far more graceful than she is! She loves to spend time with her family and friends, although she has, so far, resisted her sister’s campaign to join her in open water swimming. She is trying hard to take over the allotment plot that she and her husband tend, to make it a beautiful cutting flower bed rather than for vegetables. She loves to regularly escape, with a book or two, to the stunning mountains in Andalucía, Spain.
