I like to work with clients listening to what they wish to achieve and advising them without using legal jargon so that they have a realistic understanding of the law and can make the right decisions for themselves and their family. I am empathetic and persistent in supporting clients to achieve the best and most workable outcome they can, avoiding unwelcome and costly court proceedings whenever possible.

My approach suits collaborative law and she has specialist training to negotiate matters collaboratively. This is an approach that takes the focus away from winning at all costs towards everyone getting their heads together for a solution that works for the family as whole. Each of you has your own collaboratively trained lawyer and the meetings are in person with very little correspondence. This means that you get more immediate advice and answers. Everyone signs up to keep the case out of court which gives you more flexibility in reaching an agreement that suits you and your family and really focuses everyone’s minds on settling instead of battling things out through court.

With the courts now requiring everyone to look at out of court alternatives, the collaborative approach offers a valuable option to those wishing to come out of their divorce or separation with dignity and as little acrimony as possible.

I have an interest in looking at all the alternatives for resolving matters and how they are going to work in practical terms for you. This includes using professionals from outside the legal profession and she is in regular contact with professionals such as mediators, financial advisors and counsellors who can provide invaluable support and assistance, whether you decide to deal with your settlement collaboratively, through any other out of court approach or through court.

I have also recently completed Resolutions’ Resolution Together training which means that I can advise clients jointly on a one solicitor, two clients basis.
