It was with great sadness that Resolution learned of the death of Tim Dutton CBE KC on 5 June 2025.
Tim was a former Chair of the Bar and of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers and Head of his chambers, Fountain Court between 2008 and 2013.
Tim provided opinion and expert advice on the Resolution Together project and his knowledge and wisdom was invaluable. His reputation as the foremost barrister in regulatory matters was formidable, however, he was very approachable, interested in what we were endeavouring to achieve and felt the timing was right. He went far beyond what he had initially been asked to do resulting in a robust scheme that today an increasing number of Resolution members are using.
Even beyond the launch of Resolution Together, Tim remained interested and continued to provide advice when we needed it. Tim had a great sense of humour, an incredibly sharp intellect and an encyclopaedic knowledge of law and regulation which he carried with great grace and humility. He made it very easy for those of us who had good fortune and pleasure of working with him. He will be sadly missed.
