A message from your Wellbeing Committee
As we approach the end of another year, Resolution's Wellbeing Committee wanted to reach out to members with a message of support and solidarity.
We know that the last few months have presented their fair share of challenges to those in our community. Events in Britain and the rest of the world; the recent Mazur judgment; the cyber attack on the Legal Aid Agency and the subsequent fallout for legal aid firms – all of these, and more, inevitably have an impact on all of us.
We also know that this time of year can be particularly challenging for many in our profession. The pressure to tie up cases before the festive break, the emotional weight of supporting families through difficult separations during this time, and the general demands of family practice can take their toll. For some of you, this period may bring its own personal challenges too.
Please know that you are not alone, and that support is always available to you.
Reach out to your Resolution community
One of the greatest strengths of our organisation is our network of compassionate, experienced professionals who understand the unique pressures of family law. Whether it’s connecting with colleagues through your regional committee, picking up the phone to a fellow member, or attending a local event, these connections can make a real difference.
Use our mentoring scheme
Our mentoring scheme is here to provide guidance, support and a listening ear from someone who understands your professional journey. Whether you’re facing specific practice challenges or simply need to talk things through with someone who gets it, mentoring can be invaluable.
Contact LawCare or Mind
LawCare offers free, independent and confidential support for legal professionals. Their helpline is available on 0800 279 6888, and they also offer peer support groups and online resources.
Mind also offer more general support for people suffering with mental health issues. Their website has a variety of resources, guidance, and information about the different types of support available. They also have a helpline, on 0300 123 3393.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to either of these organisations if you’re struggling. Remember, seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Looking after your wellbeing enables you to continue doing the important, meaningful work you do for the families who depend on you.
We’re here for you, not just at this time of year, but always.
With warm wishes,
Denise Ingamells and Emma Leavesley,
Co-Chairs, Resolution Wellbeing Committee
