Good Divorce Week 2021

We’re looking forward to Good Divorce Week 2021 (29 Nov - 3 Dec) where we’ll be kickstarting a national conversation about how parents can embrace a child-focused approach to separation.

Family relationships have come under immense pressure since the start of the pandemic and we know that the children of parents who separate can find the experience one of the most challenging and impactful of their lives.

That’s why Resolution launched the Parenting Through Separation Guide, a free resource containing information, advice and support to help parents in their parenting journey through separation, divorce and beyond.

We want to get the guide, and the information contained within it, in the hands of as many separating families as possible to ensure more families can separate amicably with the best interests of the children.

Will you help us to promote the guide with your local MP? Copy, paste and personalise the template below and email it to your MP to ask for their support ahead of Good Divorce Week. Find your MP here and if you receive a reply please let us know.

We will share additional materials soon to help you promote Good Divorce Week including a template press release including results of a YouGov survey, guidance for acheiving media coverage and social media graphics.

Dear  [insert full name]  MP,

I am a  [family lawyer/mediator/financial advisor/etc]  living in your constituency and a member of Resolution, a  community of 6,500 family justice professionals. I am writing to  you  ahead of  Good Divorce Week 2021 (29 Nov-3 Dec), an initiative  which this year  will offer free resources  to  parents  who are going through a divorce or separation.

Family relationships have been under immense pressure since the start of the pandemic, and we know that the children of parents who are separating can find the separation process extremely difficult. I am sure you regularly help constituents who are struggling with separation, dealing with child arrangements, and are trying to put their children first.

Resolution has published a free Parenting Through Separation Guide, which can be downloaded here and contains practical advice to help parents put their children first during what is a very stressful time. The guide has been produced as part of Resolution’s commitment to ensure more families have access to professional advice which promotes a constructive approach to separation which considers the best interests of children.

I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you during Good Divorce Week to talk more about Resolution’s Parenting through Separation Guide and how it can help your constituents who are facing separation.

I would also ask that you:

  1. Promote the free Parenting Through Separation Guide for separating couples through your social media channels. I have included some suggested posts below.
  1. Take part in a very brief survey being conducted by Resolution to find out how the pandemic has affected your constituents who are separating and their children. This can be completed by you or your team and can be found here. To thank you for your time, Resolution will select one lucky respondent to win a £200 donation to a charity of your choice in your constituency! You can choose to opt-out of the draw if you wish.

I hope you will lend your support to Good Divorce Week, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,
