Course Overview

Practising as a collaborative professional demands different skills than those of ‘traditional’ practice, not least working with your colleagues and with both clients together. Our training programme introduces the essential skills to start practising collaboratively and gives you the opportunity to try these out in a safe space.  We help you understand the collaborative model and advise you on how to set up collaborative cases.

What is Collaborative Practice?

Collaborative practice focuses on resolving clients’ family disputes efficiently and constructively via a round-table meeting process. This model allows clients and lawyers to focus on the best outcomes for all concerned and brings in neutral advisers to help and support the family.

Integral to collaborative practice is the experience of joining local practice groups, known as ‘PODs’ (Professional, Organisational and Development groups). Membership of one or more PODs keeps you connected to other local collaborative practitioners, provides support and can introduce you to a range of different professionals.

Before booking, please note:

  • This course is exclusively for current Resolution members
  • You are required to have undertaken Domestic Abuse and Safeguarding training within the last two years. This reflects the critical importance Resolution believes should be accorded to this subject.
  • Domestic Abuse and Safeguarding courses are available to book with Resolution and other providers if you have not completed training in the last two years. If you are not able to book and attend a course before the collaborative training starts, please do get in touch with us.

Testimonials:
  • “It really started a re-education within me as to how I want my future cases to map out, and what is best for my clients at the end of the day.  I don’t think I have attended such an in-depth and beneficial course before.  It has made me want to become a better solicitor and a better sounding board for my clients.  It has also, on a personal level, made me want to resolve the unresolved conflict that exists between my husband and his ex-wife.  Why must my stepdaughters have to live with that forever?  The answer is they don’t, and I have some power in changing that”.
  • “The speakers were clearly passionate about Collab and this really came through and was inspiring and motivating”.
  • “I am very thankful to Resolution for putting this course on in the manner that they did.  I and my practice have benefitted hugely.”
