Chris is the Head of, and founding Partner of, the Family Department at Fenton Elliott Solicitors.

He studied law at Reading University before being called as a barrister in 2010. Chris is a Chartered member of the Institute of Legal Executives and was a nominee for the national award of Chartered Legal Executive of the Year in Family Law for 2018 and was listed as a “next generation leading lawyer” for the Berkshire/Oxfordshire region by the Legal 500 in 2019.

The Legal 500 in 2020 says the following about Chris:

Chris Sutton is experienced in high-value divorce and financial settlements as well as in arrangements and residences of children....[has] terrific legal knowledge and clearly espouses the ethos and values of Resolution. In addition [he has] first rate interpersonal skills which enable [him] to provide excellent client care.

Having been called to the Bar, he is a skilled advocate and endeavours to represent many of his client’s in court as opposed to routinely instructing barristers. He has a practical approach to children matters relating to residence and arrangements to spend time with children and has also had recent success with cases concerning grandparent’s time with children. Chris is also astute at financial remedy matters upon divorce and separation and works on cases with a broad range of assets, including multi-million-pound international cases in the High Court in London.

Chris previously sat on the Regional Committee for Resolution in Berkshire & Buckinghamshire for more than three years and currently sits on the committee for the Thames Valley Family Lawyers Society.
