I set up Colette Stroud Family Law on 24 February 2002, my 40th birthday because I wanted to practice family law in a different way to all the firms that I had worked for since qualifying as a solicitor in 1986.

The decision to end a marriage/relationship is not one that is taken lightly, particularly if there are children involved. You may not feel that you have a choice about your relationship/marriage coming to an end but, I believe that you do have a choice about how you deal with it and your approach as you navigate your way through it.

It is daunting to meet with a complete stranger face to face to talk about the most personal and often emotional part of your life. I am always happy to have a free initial chat on the telephone to “break the ice” and to give clients some preliminary advice and information. If clients would like some more detailed advice and some emotional support I am happy to meet with clients for 1 hour for a fixed fee of £115 + vat.

The majority of my clients are recommended to me by previous clients, family, friends and other professionals which is lovely and confirms to me that, setting up my firm 20 years ago to practice family law in a different way, was the best decision that I ever made.
