Ian Walker

I am a current member of Resolution’s National Committee – having been elected by members in 2024. In this role, I am the National Committee Liaison with Devon, Cornwall and Somerset regional committees. I am also a member of Resolution’s Non-Court Dispute Resolution Committee and Cohabitation Committee. I am a past chair of the Devon Region of Resolution – having served a total of 12 years in that role.

I founded my own practice – Walker Family Law in 2013. The practice now includes approximately 25 qualified lawyers, and we are all very committed to the progressive values of Resolution.

I qualified as a solicitor in 1992 and as a family mediator in 1996. I was also one of the initial cohort to train as a child law arbitrator. I am a collaborative lawyer and trained to practice Resolution Together.

As a lawyer I was a member of the Law Society Children Panel for 27 years before I retired from the panel. As a family lawyer I practised all areas of family Law.

Currently I am only personally accepting work as a family mediator. I practice advanced forms of family mediation which are equivalent to family hybrid mediation which is promoted by Resolution. My own training was by Henry Brown – he was the founder of Resolution’s mediation training faculty – and I developed my own family hybrid mediation practice before Resolution launched its current scheme.

Although I am not accepting legal work myself at the present time, I have a fantastic team of lawyers and I am happy for you to contact me and I will forward any queries on to the best person in my team. I am really proud of the strength of my firm’s legal practice and we have the expertise to provide good advice/representation in the most complicated of cases. On a personal level, I have been married for 30 years and we have 4 children. I am a long suffering supporter of Southampton FC.
