Marianna Michaelides

Marianna Michaelides is a children solicitor specialising in all areas of international children and domestic private children law. She is a Resolution specialist accredited lawyer in both private children law and child abduction.

Marianna is also on the International Child Abduction and Contact Unit’s (ICACU) panel of solicitors, and accepts referrals from them directly. ICACU is a governmental body that acts as the central authority for England and Wales when a child abduction matter is referred from another 1980 Hague Convention state.

She is committed to and passionate about family law, in particular in relation to the welfare of children. Marianna is sensitive and empathetic to clients’ issues, and provides clear and confident advice.

Marianna has developed a particular speciality in international parental child abduction, and she has represented many clients in matters involving abductions to Hague and non-Hague countries. She represents and advises clients in making such applications and in defending them. Marianna is experienced in using the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court, especially in Wardship cases where the court’s hands might be tied in making other appropriate orders concerning children. Marianna’s cases are often in the High Court, and she has been involved in a number of cases in the Court of Appeal.

She represents parties within a wide range of highly acrimonious disputes including complex parental alienation cases, and regularly makes and responds to applications for Child Arrangement Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders, and Specific Issue Orders.

Marianna has much experience representing parents either applying to relocate their children to another part of the country or who want to relocate abroad.

She also advises on general jurisdictional disputes affecting children, surrogacy and inter-country adoption issues, as well as registering and enforcing orders.

Marianna is consistently ranked in Chambers and Partners for Children: Cross Border and is also listed as a recommended lawyer in Legal 500.
