Sophia Poliviou

Sophia joined Wilsons in 2016, qualified as a solicitor in July 2020 and became an Associate Solicitor in July 2023.

Sophia specialises in a broad range of Family Law issues including: Private Law Children matters such as contact and residence disputes, Public Law Children matters such as child protection and care proceedings issued by the Local Authority, Divorce and Financial Remedy disputes, International Family Law including Child Abduction and Wardship proceedings, and Domestic Violence and Injunction matters.

Sophia has developed extensive experience in working for both legally aided and privately funded clients. Sophia has a particular interest in High Court work and representing clients in complex cases involving the use of the Court’s inherent jurisdiction through Non-Hague child abduction matters.

Sophia has experience in undertaking advocacy on her own cases including obtaining urgent protective Orders such as Injunctions and in disputes regarding child contact and residence.

Sophia is also a Legal Adviser at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau within the Central Family Court where she volunteers her time to provide advice in respect of family matters to clients who cannot afford legal representation and cannot access legal aid. Sophia is also a member of Resolution and works hard to adopt a conciliatory approach to resolving family disputes.
