Resolution stands in solidarity with the Afghan legal community

Statement from Resolution:

Resolution urges the UK government to guarantee Afghan legal professionals fleeing the Taliban are given safe passage to the UK, joining similar calls from Law Society President Stephanie Boyce and Lady Hale.

For the past 20 years these lawyers, judges and advocates have bravely promoted the rule of law in Afghanistan as well as the rights of women and girls. Many of them are now in hiding from the resurgent Taliban with the very real threat of execution hanging over them and their families.

Our Government has a moral obligation to ensure they are safely transported out of Afghanistan and are given the support and resources to make the UK their home. Resolution, whose membership is made up of two-thirds women, stands in solidarity with the legal community of Afghanistan.
