Cheshire and North Wales region relaunch

Cheshire and North Wales Resolution Committee were pleased to welcome old friends and new to their relaunch event on 12 February at Artezzan, Chester.

We were joined by National Resolution Vice-chair Lucy Loizou and National Committee member Alison Bull, who gave an insightful round-up of what’s been happening at Resolution and shared some of the exciting plans for the future.

It was wonderful to welcome His Honour Judge Pates and District Judge Fazackerley. We were fortunate that Judge Pates gave a fascinating talk, sharing his memories from the early days of the Solicitors’ Family Law Association which, of course, has now developed into Resolution.

The energy in the room was electric, with lively and stimulating conversation, boding well for the future of the Region.

Thank you so much to St John’s Chambers and Level Lending for their kind donations, which helped make our raffle prizes so desirable! We were able to raise £419 for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd and Claire House due to the generosity of those in attendance.

The Committee, led by our co-chairs Holly Thomas and Grace Roberts, planned the event over many months, supported by Alison Bradley from Resolution HQ, who calmed our first night nerves and provided invaluable guidance. We are so grateful for Alison’s help and insightful suggestions.

We are now planning for the future and looking forward to sharing news of upcoming events on our new LinkedIn page.

Bristol runner, Alfie McIntosh, takes on ultramarathon

Resolution Member and Bristol Family Lawyer, Alfie McIntosh laces up his trainers to tackle the Marathon des Sables, known as the toughest footrace on earth. It’s a 280km self-supported ultramarathon over seven days in the Sahara Desert. Alfie has a campaign in support of the Julian Trust Night Shelter, a Bristol based homeless charity.

Alfie says that it is a privilege to suffer and while he chooses to endure hardship in sport, many of those supported by the Julian Trust do not have that privilege as they must face daily challenges simply to survive.

If you feel able and willing, please consider donating to Alfie’s campaign as all donations go an extremely long way for the Trust. Alfie’s JustGiving page can be found at www.justgiving.com/page/alfiemds

Tricky questions at quiz event in SWL Region

Committee members left to right:  Funlola Oluwole, Imogen Nolan, Heidi Burrows, Emma Post, Maisie Lockyer, Elinor Feeney, Katie Deans, Sarah Bunn, Navdeep Dhariwal and Quiz master, Martyn.

SWL Resolution held their annual Quiz in February, with over 70 attendees.  This is an annual event that brings together solicitors, barristers and other specialists from across Resolution in what is always a fun and spirited evening.  Who knew that naming 50 Mr Men characters could be so challenging under pressure! A big thank you to Martyn for volunteering his time to be our quizmaster – he never disappoints. Well done to the “Split Happens” team for their win and OFW for sponsoring the event.
