Ian Walker

I have been a family law specialist solicitor since 1992. I was one of the first mediators trained by Resolution in 1996. As well as being a mediator and collaborative lawyer, I specialise in child law. I was a member of the Law Society Children Panel from 1996 to 2023 and I am a Child Law Arbitrator.

As a mediator, I am able to offer child inclusive mediation. I prefer the civil style of mediation (AKA Hybrid Family Mediation, AAKA-ish; solicitor inclusive mediation) for mediation on finance issues. I am very comfortable with online mediation.

In 2023, I was very honoured to be named the inaugural Resolution Regional Champion at the Resolution awards. I also received a Law Society Recognising Excellence Award in 2021 and an award from my local Law Society (Devon and Somerset) in 2020.

I am highly committed to the values of Resolution. In total have been Chair of Devon Region for 12 years, stepping down in 2023. I have also served as treasurer. I am a member of the Resolution DR committee. I am a past member of the Law Society Family Law Committee and a past Trustee of FMA.

I set up my own firm in 2013. This has grown from me and a computer to one of the strongest and most progressive family law teams in the South West. We are ranked in the Legal 500 and Chambers Directory. In 2023 we renamed to Walker Family Law from Ian Walker Family Law and Mediation Solicitors, to better reflect the regional firm we now are.
