Issue 240 Jan / Feb 2026

Welcome to issue 240 of The Review!

We’re thrilled to kick off the new year with a truly special edition of The Review dedicated to YRes. This issue celebrates everything that makes our community of early-career family law professionals so dynamic, while looking ahead to an ambitious and inspiring 2026. It’s packed with insight, practical guidance and fresh perspectives designed to support you in your practice and spark meaningful conversations.

As we draw the curtain on 2025, it’s impossible not to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year for YRes nationally and regionally. Serving on the National YRes Committee has given us a privileged vantage point from which to witness the energy, momentum, creativity and resilience that define our community of family law practitioners under 10 years’ PQE.

We ended the year on an undeniable high with the National YRes Conference, held in November at the London Hilton. The event brought together practitioners from every corner of the country and showcased not only the breadth of talent within our network but also our commitment to learning, collaboration and future-focused practice. The atmosphere in the room affirmed, to us, why YRes matters and why our community continues to strengthen. YRes is not simply a network: it is a source of stability, support and shared learning during what can be some of the most formative and challenging years of practice.

Much of what has made 2025 a standout year is the ongoing work between the National YRes Committee and our brilliant regional YRes committees. The National Yres Committee have been determined to ensure that YRes members, wherever they are based, feel supported, represented and connected. Regional YRes committees remain the beating heart of YRes, and our collaboration with them continues to build a more consistent national identity while still championing local needs and initiatives.

Another exciting development in 2025 has been the launch of the National YRes LinkedIn page, which has quickly become a vibrant hub for ideas, discussions and updates. It allows members to see, in real time, the scale of activity happening across the country and provides an easy place to share experiences, seek guidance and celebrate successes.

Our latest Resolution survey revealed something truly exciting: YRes membership numbers are rising sharply. This growth reinforces the importance of fostering a dedicated community for early-career family law professionals. Seeing more practitioners join our ranks demonstrates just how valued and necessary this space is.

Before closing, we want to extend heartfelt thanks to Zhenja Cann, who has now reached the end of her term as Co-Chair of the National YRes Committee. Zhenja’s dedication, vision and hard work have left a positive and lasting impact on the committee and on YRes nationally. We are all deeply grateful for her contribution.

As always, if you ever need anything or want to share ideas, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – we would love to hear from you. Here’s to 2026!
