- Thousands of pounds of online training now available to all Resolution members at no extra cost until at least end of 2020.
- Decision taken to provide ‘helping hand’ to members and firms during Covid pandemic.
- Professional development ‘can’t afford to be abandoned’ despite challenges ahead.
Resolution has today made over 160 hours of online training available to its members, free of charge, as part of its commitment to support family justice professionals and their firms as the sector emerges from lockdown.
The training – estimated to be worth the equivalent of £5,000 per member – covers a wide variety of topics, from digital working to negotiation skills. More content is being uploaded all the time, with an additional £1,500 equivalent value being added each month.
Resolution’s training is highly regarded among the family justice profession – in a survey of members last year, those who attended training were more likely to recommend Resolution membership to others than those who had not. Respondents spoke favourably about “training provided by family lawyers for family lawyers”, which is “aimed at family justice professionals wanting to change the way we do it.”
Resolution’s Chair, Juliet Harvey, said the decision to make this available free to members was straightforward:
“We know from our own experience how challenging members have found the global pandemic. Not only has lockdown placed additional burdens on our firms and our colleagues, it has also seen the day-to-day work of family justice professionals change almost beyond recognition.”
“In the context of these changes, firms cannot afford to abandon professional development, and yet many are struggling financially. That’s why we’ve decided to support them for the rest of the year, to help their people develop new skills and tap into the collective expertise we hold within Resolution.”
Shortly after lockdown, Resolution was forced to cancel its National Conference, and quickly shifted to delivering the training aspects of conference online. The popular Finance update was recently broadcast to around 1,000 members, and is now available – completely free of charge – to members and non-members alike.
Edward Cooke, who chairs Resolution’s Training & Learning Committee, encouraged professionals and firms to take advantage of the free training available:
“I’m really proud that we’ve made so much industry-leading training available to our members. I know from running my own firm how important it is to ensure your team is staying on top of all the changes in family justice; and the value in upskilling more junior colleagues to help the firm as a whole.”
“If you’re a member – and even if you’re not – I’d really encourage you to have a look around the website and take advantage of all the high-quality, zero-cost training Resolution has opened up. We’re committed to helping the profession recover stronger, together.”
