National Committee Elections 2026 – Meet the Candidates: Denise Ingamells

My involvement with Resolution isn’t just a membership; it is a commitment to a community that values diversity.
Why do you want to apply to be on the National Committee?
I have spent over 20 years as a family law practitioner and for me the Resolution Code of Practice is more than just a set of rules, it’s a mindset.
While serving on our Parenting After Parting, and Dispute Resolution committees and Co-Chairing the Wellbeing committee, I have seen the incredible impact we have when we work together and just how Resolution shapes the landscape of family justice.
I want to use my experience to help Resolution continue to lead the way, ensuring we remain a supportive, forward-thinking community that puts children’s best interests first and supports the emotional wellbeing of both clients and professionals.
I’m standing for the National Committee because I want to ensure the practitioner’s voice stays right at the heart of our strategic future and to help Resolution evolve while upholding the integrity and objectivity that our membership is built upon.
What skills and experience will you bring to the role as a National Committee member?
My background is multidisciplinary, I was Chair of Governors for a local school, have a background in finance, years of relationship counselling with Relate, and over two decades as an FMCA Accredited mediator.
I’ve always enjoyed the “doing” side of our work, whether that’s authoring the Separated Parents Information Programme (SPIP), which reached 250,000 people nationwide, or training the next generation on Resolution’s Mediation Foundation Course.
My work as a Professional Practice Consultant (PPC) and my current work delivering the FMC’s domestic abuse screening training ensures I bring an up-to-date, rigorous approach to safety and ethics.
My work in separated parenting is well-regarded by colleagues, and I sit on the advisory board for the Separated Parent Provider Directory.
I’m used to looking at the “big picture” strategy without losing sight of the emotional and financial nuances that families face, and I hope to offer a balanced, practical, and experienced perspective.
How have you been involved in and benefitted from Resolution as a member?
Resolution has provided the framework in the form of The Code of Practice that informs every session I deliver to clients. It’s given me a framework to work with integrity and a community that feels like family. I have been an active contributor to the Resolution community, serving on three committees and training the next generation of mediators.
Being awarded the John Cornwell Award in 2022 was a truly humbling career highlight, and it reinforced my belief in our collective mission to reduce conflict.
I have benefited immensely from the collective wisdom of this network, my involvement isn’t just a membership; it is a commitment to a community that values diversity, eliminates discrimination, and puts children at the heart of the process. It is a pleasure to work alongside like-minded colleagues, and I am now eager to give back to this community by sitting on the National Committee.
