Financial Planning on Separation Conference 2024

Our flagship event for financial professionals advising or looking to advise on divorce and separation continues to grow year-on-year.

Working with clients going through separation and divorce in any context is a stressful experience. Nowhere is this more true than in discussions relating to money, which can be loaded with fear for our clients. That’s why, after overwhelmingly positive feedback in 2023, our flagship event for financial professionals advising or looking to advise on divorce and separation, was back with a record attendance in 2024.

The event was introduced and helmed by conference Chair Steve Hennessey – a Resolution Accredited Specialist Financial Adviser and member of the Accredited Specialist Committee. It included a talk from Asif Sadullah, who gave a frank and entertaining account of his journey into specialising in financial advice on divorce, and Review regular Annmarie Carvalho, who brought along Brian the brain and led a thought-provoking session on how to work well with vulnerable clients.

We also heard from Paul Cobley who discussed the recently launched PAG2 guidance, highlighting some of the key changes from PAG1 and particularly those areas where financial planners can make a real difference to client outcomes.

Paul Windle, a specialist Pensions Actuary then explained why Public Sector Pensions Remedies are one of the biggest changes affecting public sector pensions. He dived into the numbers and addressed some practical issues when valuing or dividing up these pensions as part of a divorce settlement.

In the afternoon session, Lottie Kent explored how cashflow modelling can increase the value you add to your clients.
