In this Summer Policy Briefing, we highlight the work we've been doing to influence family justice policy over the last few months as well as highlighting useful information for members. As usual our committees have been representing members on a variety of issues.
The Ministry of Justice’s current family justice priority is to encourage the earlier resolution of private family law children and financial remedy arrangements. We are expecting proposals later this year to strengthen existing Family Procedure Rules and Practice Direction provisions around MIAMs and the use of mediation and possibly plans around primary legislative changes.
Whatever the make up of the government under a new Prime Minister, we can expect a continued focus on reducing demand on the family courts. We will respond to consultations and make representations on your behalf, including about all the services our members provide for separating couples and their children. We will keep you, our members, updated about developments.
